Catindig, De Guzman lead Alas Women in FIVB Challenger Cup

Dawn Macandili-Catindig will assume the role of sole libero for the Nationals in the 2024 FIVB Challenger Cup, as confirmed by Alas Pilipinas head coach Jorge Souza de Brito. This comes as the Nationals will be without Jennifer Nierva.

Also absent is Eya Laure, one of the leading scorers for the Philippines during its historic bronze medal run in the AVC Challenge Cup.

The Philippines' first challenge awaits against reigning AVC champion Vietnam in a knockout quarterfinal tomorrow at 6:30 p.m.

Initially listed as a libero, Creamline star Jema Galanza returns to her original position as an outside hitter, while Choco Mucho middle blocker Cherry Nunag will serve as the team’s second libero.

Also part of the roster are Jia De Guzman, Angel Canino, Thea Gagate, Fifi Sharma, Sisi Rondina, Faith Nisperos, Vanie Gandler, Julia Coronel, Dell Palomata, Mhicaela Belen, and Arah Panique.

Belen rejoined Alas Pilipinas' practice session yesterday to resume preparation after a short trip to Korea.
