Creamline adds Rhea Villarete to boost roster for AVC Champions League

Creamline continues to strengthen its lineup as the team announced the signing of veteran playmaker Rhea Villarete ahead of the 2025 AVC Women's Champions League.

The announcement was made on Sunday, with the Cool Smashers excited about the addition of the experienced setter to their already formidable roster.

Villarete, 34, last played for PLDT in the 2024 Premier Volleyball League (PVL) All-Filipino Conference but took a leave of absence in subsequent conferences to focus on personal matters.

Her return to the court will undoubtedly provide the Cool Smashers with a wealth of experience as they prepare for a challenging Pool A in the AVC Champions League, where they will face Kazakhstan’s Zhetysu VC and Jordan’s Al-Naser.

In a Facebook post, Creamline welcomed the seasoned setter with enthusiasm: "Mga ka-vibes, let’s all welcome Rhea Villarete sa Creamline Cool Smashers! A multi-awarded setter na magbibigay sa atin ng good vibes! We are so happy to have you here Rhea, and we’re looking forward na mapanood kang maglaro with the team."

Villarete has already been seen training with her new teammates, with a recent Instagram story from Michele Gumabao showing the setter in action.

This marks her return to the Cool Smashers' fold, just days after American import Erica Staunton rejoined the squad to help reinforce the team for the upcoming international tournament, which will take place from April 20 to 27 at the Philsports Arena.
